March 31, 2015 – a Tuesday,
too long, too long! I know that I need to sit down and record this all. Forgive
me, I allow my life to take over. In my defense, putting our home back together
and learning my way around this new town has taken some time, but I need to do
this for my soul.
We have visited 5 different
churches so far, though we have not yet committed to any one of them. Finding
the best church for our family is important to us. Once we commit, it is there
that we will spend our time, send our children to kids studies, join a parent
group, serve, etc. I can’t wait! I have been blessed to have made a friend
since moving here (HUGE for a stay-&-work-from-home Mama!); however, I have
otherwise managed to stay busy.
My husband’s job keeps him busy
but he always enjoys a challenge. We are both adjusting to the new “drive time”.
Formally, when he would call and tell me that he was leaving that man was in
the driveway in 15 minutes. Loved it! Now, it’s a 45 minute drive if all goes
well with the traffic. We were spoiled, I know, I know. Sigh. We are adjusting
to this fairly well. I have managed to keep the boys busy enough after school
so that I pushed their dinner time back a bit and they do not usually notice.
Mom-Win!
The boys seem to be doing well
and definitely enjoy their new schools. However, my Jonah reminded me in his
own little way yesterday that this moving thing takes time, as he asked when we
were going back? He has a nice life here, but wonderful memories from Lubbock.
Oh, sweet baby. Both boys will mention friends from Lubbock on occasion and
often cry for our former neighbors. Yes, we had the BEST neighbors (more like
family) across the street in our former home. I know – spoiled.
However, we truly are enjoying
this little city here. I am enjoying small town life. I do not have to go to
DFW until my Little O visits his new pulmonologist. There is much to offer
within this city, and if it’s not here, we can go find it in another city that
is a short drive across a lake! Coming out of Lubbock, driving across a lake is
still quite an adventure for our family! Water, water everywhere!!
We agreed to let our boys learn
some soccer techniques and signed them up for a local Upward Soccer league. Practices
are only once a week – at the same time, so this Mom can deal with that! We
experienced their first games this past Saturday! I am not sure who enjoyed it
more, us or them! We cheered for them all and it was a blast! They both got to
kick that ball and throw it in! Thrilling!
Adoption news- none. Sigh. Trust me, this is hard. I am trusting that work that needs to be done in order for us to bring our daughter home is being completed. A full social report is being written to insure that our child can legally be adopted. A private investigator has most likely done his report; however, the Ugandan government must conduct their own report. Our lawyer will make sure that both documents match and are accurate, and then it’s time. So, for now, we are simply waiting on a court date. Still praying, still hoping, still dreaming of her....
